I believe that these forms, colors and lines (and may I add textures?) engage the viewer's conscious and unconscious experiences plus their imagination.
Archetypal in nature, abstract art encourages the viewer to free associate what is presented on the canvas with their inner most, fundamental psyche.

Denise, I just tweeted that guy you quoted...I like that statement.
I like the colors and shapes in your piece...but I could also see some black lines added in there would be interesting. I have been looking at some of Melanie Testa's art and I really like her use of variety of elements. I find some of her artwork extremely interesting because of the variety of shapes and lines and colors she is able to pull together
